Have you been appointed the maid of honor for an upcoming wedding? If you have, you will typically find it your responsibility to plan the bride’s bachelorette party. This experience can be fun and exciting, but overwhelming all at the same time. For tips on how you can plan the perfect bachelorette party, please continue reading on.
One of the best ways to plan the perfect bachelorette party is to remember to think outside of the box. When many of us think of bachelorette parties, a night full of bar hopping, dancing, and drinking is often the first thing that comes to mind. While many brides enjoy these types of bachelorette parties, it is important to remember that there so much more out there.
When examining your options, you will find that they are, literally, unlimited. For example, many brides enjoy bachelorette parties that double as makeover parties or slumber parties, as well as a dinner at an upscale restaurant. Other popular options involves doing something adventurous, such as acquiring the services of a stripper, going gambling, learning to how belly dance, and so forth.
Another way to see success with the planning of the perfect bachelorette party involves receiving input from other friends and family members, especially others in the bridal party. Suggestions and input from others is a great way to receive bachelorette party ideas that you may have never even thought of. It is also important to discuss with the bridal party who should pay for what. Generally speaking, a bride-to-be should not have to pay for their own dinner and drinks on their special night.
In addition to discussing who will pay for what for the upcoming bachelorette party, there are a number of other factors that should be taken into consideration. Location is one of those factors. The less your bride-to-be and other guests have to travel, the more fun all are likely to have. Alcohol should also be taken into consideration. If alcohol will be present, it is important to have a backup plan, namely a designated driver. You will likely find it much easier and affordable to do so when the venue for a bachelorette party is conveniently located.
The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that you will want to take into consideration, when planning an upcoming bachelorette party. When taking your time with the planning, you are more likely to plan the perfect bachelorette party, as opposed to one that everyone, including the bride, wishes they could leave.

Bachelorette Party: Timeline for Bachelorette Party Planning
By Aubrey Walker
To make sure you are a wonderful bachelorette party planner, you should follow some tips on what to plan and when.
Three months before the bachelorette party, ask the bride what she wants, or doesn’t want. Will it be a night out on the town with drinking, dancing, and debauchery? Or does she prefer a quiet weekend with the girls, or just a nice dinner out? Does she want a living room bash, or just pizza and pool at her favorite college bar?
Establish the comfort level of the bride with various bachelorette party options. Does she want naughty, or nice? Get her to define exactly what she has in mind and outline her boundaries. After all, the bachelorette party is for her, so you don’t want her to feel uncomfortable. Several months in advance of the actual bachelorette party, set the date. Shoot for a weekend night at least several weeks before the wedding. Check the date not only with the bride, but also with other bridesmaids to make sure it works for as many girls as possible. At this point, also pin down the guest list for the bachelorette party.
Two months before the party, send a casual save the date email, and double check to make sure there aren’t major conflicts among the party guests. If it is a destination bachelorette party, send specific information about the details to the guests.
Brainstorm possible game plans and party stunts with the bridesmaids, leaving these details a surprise for the bride. If the party will be at a hot spot or out of town (the only Chippendale’s club in town, a popular tapas bar, a cabaret theater, South Beach, a rock concert, someone’s beach house), make reservations, order tickets, and deal with lodging and transportation details. Start planning at this point for transportation, especially if the girls will be drinking. Either get a volunteer to be the designated driver for the night, or research rending a limo or find a reliable taxi service.
Now is also the time to book any exotic dancer or other entertainment if you are hiring someone for the evening.
One month before the bachelorette party, send invitations. Emailing or calling is OK if the event is informal; make sure your invitations inform guests of any monetary contributions you are expecting.
If you’re going with the standard pub crawl, devise the itinerary. Start out with dinner at a rowdy restaurant where it is OK for the bride to wear her tiara and the shirt you make for her. Map out the establishments you want to visit, and let the girls know the list in case anyone has to arrive late. Make sure you ask about drink specials and bachelorette freebies at the bars you plan to visit. If you’re partying at home, help the hostess plan refreshments and activities. Make a shopping list and divide up bachelorette party prep among bridesmaids.
One week before the party, buy last minute decorations, party favors, etc. Make a list of the games you want to play at the bachelorette party, with rules and how-tos.
Confirm all the RSVPs, transportation arrangements, and bachelorette party entertainment.
The day before the party remind guests of the meeting place and time, reiterating the address. Now, just get plenty of sleep so you can enjoy the bachelorette party!

So, here is a funny story about a bachelorette party that I went to recently. The bride’s maid of honor was in charge, and she had done a lovely job putting the party together.
She had the decorations done beautifully, all of the friends of the bride to be were invited, and there were a lot of great bachelorette games. However, there was one that wasn’t such a great idea.
The maid of honor thought it would be a funny idea to for everyone to drink margaritas during this game, and if you didn’t want to answer a question, you had to finish off your drink. All right, that didn’t seem bad at first.
What girl doesn’t love to tell funny stories and gossip, especially when there’s a large group of us? Unfortunately, when we were about halfway through, the game took a turn for the worse. The ladies were coming up with question that ended up turning the place into something that looked like an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Rather than moving on to the other bachelorette games, the girls were stuck on this one.
Some of them ended up spilling their guts about their husbands or boyfriends while sobbing. It started out as funny stories about men, and now it had become a contest about who had the worst relationship!
Others who hadn’t lost their nerve yet tried to console the sobbing girls before tossing in their own stories. When it was nearly over, a couple of girls were just about ready to fall over into the party decorations. Bachelorette games get out of hand sometimes, and this was a prime example.
Luckily, I was one of the few sober ones and sat back watching in horror. I remember thinking as I got ready to leave, “I wonder if there’s still going to be a wedding?”

It’s great when you can throw a bachelorette party. It gives us girls the chance to get together and have a great time gossiping, talking about the future, and telling funny stories.
Bachelorette games can really add the most spice to the party. But remember, there are some games that you just shouldn’t ever play with your future mother in law.
There’s a great little game called ‘tell all’ where women share their most intimate experiences with their boyfriends or husbands, and which ever woman has the most outrageous story is the winner.
First of all, this could be potentially damaging to you when you hear stories that your mother in law tells. And if she’s there, how on earth will you be able to finish your juicy story? Bachelorette games like this are not a good idea when mom in law is at the party!
Let’s not forget another game that’s called ‘cup size.’ You can probably figure out how this game is played, right? The biggest is the winner. That’s dancing a little too close to the fire for sure! Better save this one for another party when your mother in law is going to be out of town.
And finally, there’s the phone number game. The object of this game, as you may have guessed, is for the bride to ask for and get as many different phone numbers as possible while she remains unmarried. Just for kicks, try playing this one around your mother in law. Think she doesn’t like you already? This clenches it!
Can’t you just imagine her scowling every time you ask a man for his number? Anyway, getting to the point… whenever you have a bachelorette party, remember this: Your mother in law and risqu bachelorette games don’t mix!
